DigitalNC has published new resources from Robeson Community College.This batch includes many pairs of Student Handbooks and General Catalogs for the 1990’s and early 2000’s. They document the campus rules, regulations, and course material for the many programs at the college.
The catalogs and handbooks could be helpful for former students investigating the courses offered during their tenures at the institution. It could also be useful for future students in planning their curriculum. All of the items are full-text searchable and are easy to navigate.

More than one hundred new items from Robeson Community College are now available on DigitalNC. Formerly known as Robeson Technical College, the college’s latest contributions include a wide assortment of newsletters, programs, advertisements, maps, posters, and images. These document the activities in and around the campus community from the late 1970’s to present.
These items could be useful for anyone interested in Community College programming, which might be helpful for researching small or local economies. They could also be useful for those interested in genealogy research in the Lumberton, N.C. area or Robeson County.

We’ve recently helped Robeson Community College add a number of additional items documenting the school’s history to DigitalNC. Among those are:
Coverage of events, profiles of staff, changes in curriculum, and advice to students are common in the newsletters, which were published by the school under a variety of names.
The scrapbooks include a number of newspaper clippings documenting the College’s beginnings as an extension of Fayetteville Technical Institute (FTI). Some of the first classes offered were in the evening, and were weighted toward agricultural interests like Ornamental Horticulture, Farm Business Management, Tractor Electrical Systems, and Fertilizers and Lime. New courses were gradually added, including those in trades, allied health care, and business, as the College grew quickly and became independent from FTI.

Yearbooks and reports from Robeson Community College, located in Lumberton, are now available on DigitalNC as part of the North Carolina Yearbooks collection.
Roberson Community College was founded in 1965 as part of nearby Fayetteville Technical Institute. In 1968 the school established its own campus in Lumberton and joined North Carolina’s state-supported community college system.
The North Carolina Digital Heritage Center worked with the library at Robeson Community College to digitize and publish online thirteen yearbooks and two reports. The yearbooks range in date from 1970 to 1983 and the reports document changes and growth in the school at its fifteenth and thirtieth anniversaries.
Over 100 videos from UNC-Pembroke, transferred primarily from U-Matic and VHS, are now available on DigitalNC. Thanks to our colleagues in the Southern Folklife Collection, these audiovisual materials were digitized utilizing funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The films cover a range of topics, from promotional films about degree programs at the school, to graduation videos from the 1980s and 1990s. Some of the films document a trip to Georgia to do a cemetery cleanup at the Croatan Indian Memorial Cemetery.
A substantial portion of the videos are from student produced programming including the Pembroke Forum, and Crosscurrents.
There are also several shows produced by students at Robeson Community College, including RCC Today and Robeson Watch.
