Myers Park High School yearbook, Mustang, 1958 spread on school spirit.

Additional Charlotte, N.C. yearbooks, provided by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, are now digitized and available on DigitalNC.

Two yearbooks come from Myers Park High School, which opened in 1951. The yearbooks, titled “Mustang” are from 1958 and 1959. Fifteen of the digitized yearbooks come from Charlotte Technical High School, the years 1929 (the school’s first yearbook), 1931, 1940-1946, 1949, and 1951-1954. The yearbooks include photos of students and staff as well as clubs, sports, and other activities around campus.

These are the first yearbooks we have digitized and uploaded from both Myers Park High School and Charlotte Technical High School. You can view all of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s yearbooks here.

The yearbooks are now available online in the North Carolina Yearbooks collection. Yearbooks from Seven Springs, N.C. are from 1943 to 1947 and those from Albertson, N.C. are from 1953 to 1962. The yearbooks, called “Overflow,” include photographs of students, staff, faculty, sports, clubs, and other activities. Spanning two decades, the yearbooks reflect changes in North Carolina and America over the years.

UNC Medical School Yearbooks Now Available

The University of North Carolina School of Medicine yearbooks are now available on DigitalNC. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine was established in 1879, but these are the only six yearbooks that have been produced. Called “The Tarhealer,” the yearbook was published from 1987-1992. More so than the traditional yearbook, these focus on snapshots captured in everyday life over posed portraits. Medical students are seen in daily life, taking classes, studying, in lab, relaxing — and performing sketches. On this page, UNC School of Medicine alumnus, Ken Jeong, is performing alongside fellow students. He is now known for his roles in Community, The Hangover, and Dr. Ken, a show based on his experiences as a doctor.
