The Power + Place Collaborative is an expanding community partnership between the African American Cultural Arts & History Museum, Elon University faculty and students, Burlington Recreation and Parks, Alamance County Libraries, and other diverse faith-based community partners and cultural organizations. Since the fall of 2020, the Collaborative has led a community-based oral history and storytelling initiative aimed at recording, preserving, presenting, and celebrating stories from and about Alamance County’s many diverse communities. By fostering in-person, digital, and place-based sites of collective storytelling, deep listening, and community engagement, the Collaborative seeks to envision a more caring and inclusive future deeply rooted in historic community strength and resilience.
